Junior Camp Info

Junior Camp is a weekly summer session that is for ages 8-12 years of age by September 1 of the current year. This is a coed session with the females housed in one of five cabins and males housed in one of four cabins. These cabins are located on opposite ends of the soccor field. Camp starts on Sunday afternoon with registration from 3 - 5 pm and ends with camper pickup Saturday morning 10 am. There is a registered nurse on staff for each week to for the medical needs of each camper.

Team Competition
Campers are divided into teams at the beginning of the week. The teams competite throughout the week to see who can earn the most points. The most points can be earned by memorizing the daily and weekly verses, answering questions from the previous Bible lesson and keeping a notebook through the week. Other points are earned by winning games and other activities that are set up by the Activity Director.

Memory Verses
The memory verses have been put together to show a camper their need of salvation and to help Christians grow in their spiritual walk with the Lord. The verses to be memorized are based on the number of years a child has been a camper at Camp Hope and completed a patch. If this is the first year a child has been to camp then they would memorize the first year verses, second year of attending camp second year verses and so on.

Camp Staff
Many of the staff of Camp Hope were campers in the past as children and now desire to minister to the children that are now coming to camp. Counselors are chosen for their spiritual maturity and the ability to interact with the campers. New staff must turn in two references. One is a personal reference that is not a family member and the second reference must come their church's local leadership. The Program Director will also talk with the potential staff member to determine where they stand spiritually, how their walk witht the Lord has been and their ability to present the gospel in a very clear way according to biblical standards.
